About us

Meet our team and learn who inspired us to transform pet healthcare in Australia, starting with stem cell banking.

For the love of a dog, of course

Our story starts with one dog, and ends with helping millions of others. That’s what we’re working towards.

When we found out our puppy Edgar Allan Paws was predisposed to arthritis, we began doing everything we could to help him avoid the disease.

We moved him to a fresh raw diet to keep him lean, added joint supplements to meals and focused on regular low-impact exercise. We also discovered that stem cell banking was available for pets overseas. We thought we’d found the best solution but it wasn’t available here in Australia.

With one of us already working in stem cell technology and the other experienced in startups, we couldn’t shake the idea that this wasn’t good enough. It didn’t make sense, emotionally or financially, for Australian pet owners not to have access to personalised treatments globally proven to relieve pain, restore mobility and allow early detection and prevention.

So we built it. Elita was born from a deep personal connection. A desire to give our pets more good years by our sides. That’s our promise to Edgar, and to every pet in Australia.

We want every pet to live their best life. We’re starting with stem cell banking to unlock better options for Australian pet owners. From there, our goal is to combine your pet’s health data with innovation, developing treatments that reduce the financial and emotional burden of surgery, and helping pet owners stop pain before it starts.

Meet more of our team

We’re based in Australia, where you’ll find us in the lab or at Melbourne’s dog parks. Here’s some of our team.

Founding Scientist

Dr Jade Jaffar

Having dedicated her career to advancing biomedical research, Dr Jade Jaffar leads Elita’s pet stem cell bank. She has built three human biobanks, two in Australia and one over in the US, and is passionate about our mission to bring personalised cell therapies and longer, healthier lives to our pets.

Chief Morale Officer

Edgar Allan Paws

As our inspiration, it’s only fitting that Edgar Allan Paws is our Chief Morale Officer. With boundless enthusiasm and expert treat-testing skills, he loves naps, zoomies and of course, helping fellow pets enjoy more good years with their people. He’s also 100% the office favourite (and he knows it).

Chief Technical Officer

Jackson Gritching

Our co-founder and CTO, Jackson is a biomedical engineer who loves turning science into real-world impact. With experience across deep tech, biotech and stem cells (plus a deep love for furry friends) he’s perfectly suited to making personalised vet medicine accessible to Australian pet owners.

Dr Nicole Su

“I'm supporting Elita by analysing complex biomarker and health data through computational biology and biostatics methodologies. The goal is to empower pet owners so they can better understand and manage their dog’s health. It’s about making longevity insights accessible and actionable.”

Dr Jennifer Boer
Biostatistician, University of Melbourne

“I am working with Elita to investigate the proteins, growth factors and biologicals produced by stem cells. By understanding their therapeutic potential, we can help inform how Elita tailors their approach to different diseases.”

Professor Wojciech Chrzanowski
Nanoparticle Engineer, University of Sydney

“I'm helping Elita deeply characterise stem cells so they know exactly what they're working with. This foundational understanding supports their commitment to delivering robust, personalised treatments for every pet.“
