Australian Shepherds are incredible, but they can carry unique biological risks and silent signs that most owners catch too late. Even in the best-bred dogs, environmental factors can trigger biological predispositions.

We turn unique data into proactive clarity. Discover exactly what matters for your Australian Shepherd’s longevity, and how to spot trends early, and stay ahead of issues before they surface.

1

Neurological Stability

Aussies carry a genetic predisposition to neurological sensitivity. Monitoring for subtle instability allows you to manage trigger thresholds, supporting long-term nervous system balance.

2

Joint Structure & Movement

Their athleticism and working-dog build mean joint stress accumulates early. Monitoring movement patterns helps prevent cartilage wear long before lameness.

3

Metabolic & Immune Function

Aussies are prone to immune-linked thyroid decline. Tracking hormonal drift helps you catch imbalance early, years before weight or coat changes appear.

The silent signals of a Australian Shepherd

Track, learn, and act with confidence. From monthly medication reminders to analysing blood results, Blueprint gives you one trusted platform to manage your dog’s health and support a longer, healthier life.

Tiny staring spells or brief muscle twitches at rest can be early signs of neurological instability linked to seizure pathways.

Aussies compensate well. Reduced hind-limb extension on turns or reluctance to jump reveal early joint stress long before a limp.

Mild energy fluctuations or slight decreases in stamina can reflect early thyroid imbalance, even when standard checks look normal.

Low-grade, persistent inflammation often precedes autoimmune or joint issues. Tracking these silent markers catches risk early.

Increased sound sensitivity or new fixation behaviours can hint at early neurochemical shifts or neurological changes.

STEP 1

Register and set your date

Sign up your pre-desexed puppy with Elita Genetics. We’ll confirm your pet’s eligibility and verify your vet’s details with you. Book an appointment with your vet to discuss the best timing for your dog’s desexing procedure and inform them you’ll be storing their cells with Elita Genetics.

Once you’ve confirmed the desexing date, let us know, and we’ll coordinate directly with your vet to ensure they have all the necessary collection information.

STEP 2

Procedure day

24 hours before surgery, we’ll confirm with you and your vet that everything is ready to go. Elita Genetics will deliver the collection kit to your vet ahead of the procedure. Follow your vet’s instructions for dropping off your pet.

During the procedure, your vet will collect a small fat sample. We’ll arrange secure transport to bring the sample to our lab for processing.
