Border Collies are incredible, but they can carry unique biological risks and silent signs that most owners catch too late. Even in the best-bred dogs, environmental factors can trigger biological predispositions.

We turn unique data into proactive clarity. Discover exactly what matters for your Border Collie’s longevity, and how to spot trends early, and stay ahead of issues before they surface.

1

Neurological Stability

Border Collies carry a genetic predisposition for neuronal sensitivity. Monitoring subtle micro-events and trigger thresholds is critical to maintaining stability and catching early epileptic patterns.

2

High-Impact Joint Stress

Their intense drive often masks pain. Managing repetitive impact and monitoring movement balance and symmetry is essential to protect cartilage from early wear caused by their explosive movement patterns.

3

Neurochemical & Cognitive Balance

High cognitive drive can tip into neurochemical imbalance. Proactive management of gut-brain arousal levels and 'looping' behaviours prevents the formation of compulsive disorders.

The silent signals of a Border Collie

Track, learn, and act with confidence. From monthly medication reminders to analysing blood results, Blueprint gives you one trusted platform to manage your dog’s health and support a longer, healthier life.

Brief 'zoning out', single muscle twitches, or 'fly biting' at rest can be early signs of neuronal instability, appearing months before a seizure.

Border Collies run through pain. Subtle reductions in hind-limb extension or hesitation on fast turns are the only biological signals of joint overload they will show.

Disrupted sleep cycles or predictable pacing often signal a shift in stress hormone levels, marking the early biological formation of compulsive patterns.

For an endurance breed, day-after stiffness isn't normal. It is a biological marker of systemic inflammation or early joint strain.

Staring at shadows or repetitive 'checking' aren't just quirks; they are early indicators of neurochemical drift and fixation loops.

STEP 2

Procedure day

24 hours before surgery, we’ll confirm with you and your vet that everything is ready to go. Elita Genetics will deliver the collection kit to your vet ahead of the procedure. Follow your vet’s instructions for dropping off your pet.

During the procedure, your vet will collect a small fat sample. We’ll arrange secure transport to bring the sample to our lab for processing.
