Malteses are incredible, but they can carry unique biological risks and silent signs that most owners catch too late. Even in the best-bred dogs, environmental factors can trigger biological predispositions.

We turn unique data into proactive clarity. Discover exactly what matters for your Maltese’s longevity, and how to spot trends early, and stay ahead of issues before they surface.

Top biological watchlist for Malteses

Track, learn, and act with confidence. From monthly medication reminders to analysing blood results, Blueprint gives you one trusted platform to manage your dog’s health and support a longer, healthier life.

1

Airway Structure & Function

Maltese have a predisposition to weakened tracheal cartilage. Monitoring breathing patterns is critical to identifying airway instability early, long before coughing begins.

2

Oral Health & Systemic Defence

Crowded teeth create a risk for early gum inflammation. Managing the oral microbiome is vital, as bacterial drift affects not just the mouth, but overall systemic health.

3

Neuro-Immune Stability

A breed-linked autoimmune condition can affect motor control. Monitoring for micro-tremors helps you catch neural inflammation early, before tremors become visible.

The silent signals of a Maltese

Track, learn, and act with confidence. From monthly medication reminders to analysing blood results, Blueprint gives you one trusted platform to manage your dog’s health and support a longer, healthier life.

Throat clearing or soft reverse-sneezing are the earliest biological clues of tracheal weakness, appearing long before the signature cough.

Pink edges at the gumline or mild odour signal early periodontal breakdown long before tooth mobility or pain sets in.

Brief shivers during excitement aren't just 'cold'; they are specific biological markers of early neurological instability.

Low-grade immune activation often precedes dental or neurological issues. Tracking silent markers catches risk even when they look well.

Tiny dips in sharpness or intermittent restlessness can be early neuroimmune signals of mild inflammatory stress on the central nervous system.

Once you’ve confirmed the desexing date, let us know, and we’ll coordinate directly with your vet to ensure they have all the necessary collection information.

STEP 2

Procedure day

24 hours before surgery, we’ll confirm with you and your vet that everything is ready to go. Elita Genetics will deliver the collection kit to your vet ahead of the procedure. Follow your vet’s instructions for dropping off your pet.

During the procedure, your vet will collect a small fat sample. We’ll arrange secure transport to bring the sample to our lab for processing.
